out of the blue
like holding a piece of blue sea glass found
along an endless seaweed-tangled jagged-rock shore
lost in the undercurrent of blue emotions
until
the light plays tricks through
the bars and glass and toxic air
28 stories above the ground.
or is it my mind’s trickery?
up in the sky and up in my head
stuck with the stories within
The quiet settles through the apartment.
She presses her ear to his door, and waits for his wild imagination — listens for the final chuga chuga choo choos as the last steam train passes through his consciousness.
She hopes for its absence; the surest sign he has finally drifted into nap time.
